Romping at the beach

No year is complete without a trip to the beach. Somewhere deep within my veins flows this sure knowledge. The last few years, we have planned our beach trip during fall break when the crowds are smaller and the weather is divine. Convincing Rebekah to be content in her car seat for 6 hours took a little creativity, but it was well worth the bliss of gazing at the endless waves crashing into the shore.
Shortly after arriving in Oceanside, the kids shimmied into their swimsuits and ran for the beach leaving a trail of clothes in their wake.
This was Rebekah's first time at the beach since learning to walk. She ran straight for the waves with fearless abandon. The cold water, messy sand and pounding surf were no match for her fierce determination to conquer the ocean.
After awhile she even got used to our constant hold on her wee little arm.
The next morning, the kids were out with all the beach gear. We loaded up the jogging stroller with towels, sunscreen, sand toys and boogie boards.
Caleb and Meagan soon got busy building sand castles and jumping waves while Rebekah continuously roamed about the shallow water trying to make a break away from our close attention.
But even persistent 1 year olds need a little cuddle from mom and a Nilla wafer to charge up for more fun.
After dinner that night we took a walk along the beach and discovered not only this great pier to explore, but a park built right into the sandy beach.
Rebekah and Meagan had a lot of fun exploring the tunnels
And Ryan helped Rebekah go down the slide (again and again and again).

Your post makes me desperately want to take off to the ocean right now. We are here enjoying our 30 degree nights and we did make it to 55 today--YEA! Great pictures, your kids are growing up so fast--they are darling.

Ditto on above comment. Except for the temperature. Reverse that. But sooo want to hit the beach with the kids right now.
