Here at the Jones house no one likes to de-gut the pumpkins. It's a tedious chore and the kids won't touch the innards of their pumpkin.
As a result of this pumpkin cleaning resistance, I declared this year to be a no-carving year. Instead we would paint our pumpkins. It was perfect. They were able to create independently and execute their vision without any pesky interference from their parents.
As an added bonus, our Sunday afternoon was quiet and peaceful while the kids worked on their masterpieces.
