Genius!

Sometimes I make no sense at all.

Sometimes I am wading through trials 2 feet deep and I am able to keep my chin up and find peace and satisfaction.

Other times things are going along beautifully and I am surrounded by blessings and yet I just can't shake that blah (or worse) feeling.

When I am willing to look back honestly, I discover that the difference revolves around how much I am nurturing my spirituality. When I am reading my scriptures and praying and relying on the Lord then I find comfort regardless of my circumstances. How amazing is that?

I was thinking that when choosing between feeling hope and feeling discouragement that hope really ought to win out every time.

I came across this quote today in the October Ensign from my one of my very favorite people, Neal A Maxell:

"May I speak, not to the slackers in the Kingdom, but to those who carry their own load and more; not to those lulled into false security, but to those buffeted by false insecurity, who, though laboring devotedly in the Kingdom, have recurring feelings of falling forever short. … There is a difference … between being ‘anxiously engaged’ and being over-anxious and thus underengaged. … We can distinguish more clearly between divine discontent and the devil’s dissonance, between dissatisfaction with self and disdain for self. We need the first and must shun the second, remembering that when conscience calls to us from the next ridge, it is not solely to scold but also to beckon.”
